Jim Chapman Lake and the Cooper Dam sit in Delta and Hopkins Counties two miles south of Cooper, Texas, eight miles east of Commerce, Texas, in northeast Texas. Jim Chapman Lake is 12 miles north of Sulphur Springs, Texas. It was formerly named and is also known as Cooper Lake. Dallas is 67 miles southwest.
